Is it safe to drink out of aluminium?

Yes, SIGG bottles unique organic liner will ensure that there is absolutely no migration of either the liner or the aluminium of the bottle seeping into your beverage. SIGG bottles have been independently and extensively tested in Europe, USA and Australia to ensure 0.0% leaching! SIGG has been manufacturing and perfecting metal beverage bottles for over 100 years and produce products of the highest quality and safety standards in the world.

What If I Scraped Or Chipped Off My Liner? 

Some of our customers have inadvertently scraped or chipped off their liner exposing some of the aluminum and have asked if the bottle was still safe to drink beverages from. Research shows it's nearly impossible for the body to absorb enough aluminum to cause Alzheimer's. A study in May 2007 Journal of Alzheimer's Disease found that you would have to absorb MORE than 1,000 milligrams of aluminum each day to increase your risk of dementia. That's the equivalent of drinking 1,000 cups of tea (one of the HIGHEST sources of aluminum in the human diet). Since the average person is exposed to less than 10 milligrams a day, you are pretty much safe.

But Doesn't Aluminum Cause Alzheimers? 

No, it’s a myth that has persisted since 1965, when researchers found that exposing rabbits’ brains to aluminum caused nerve cell damage similar to Alzheimer’s. Many over−the−counter medicines contain aluminum. One antacid tablet can contain 50 milligrams of aluminum and a buffered aspirin tablet may contain about 10 to 20 milligrams of Aluminum. A SIGG bottle, even though is made of aluminum, will not leach any aluminum whatsoever into your drink because of our liner.

Can dents in the bottles damage the inner coating?

No, the inner coating is highly elastic. Dents cannot crack the coating and the SIGG bottle remains perfectly usable. Because the liner is virtually baked into the inner walls of the bottle, it will not flake or chip even if dented on the outside.

How do I clean my SIGG?

We recommend rinsing your SIGG thoroughly under the faucet with warm, soapy water at the end of every day and letting it air dry with the top off. When more thorough cleaning is required, you can use baking soda and vinegar. For tough jobs, pick up some SIGG cleaning tablets and a SIGG brush. Do not use a hard bristled brush to clean the interior of your SIGG bottle as this will damage the liner.
DISHWASHER? We do not recommend using the dishwasher to wash your SIGG bottles. The Dishwasher is too harsh and will damage the non-toxic food-based paint on your bottle, so if the design is important to you and you don't want the paint to fade or maybe chip off - avoid the dishwasher. Also, the opening of the SIGG bottle is small - and a dishwasher cannot shoot the water all the way up into the bottle to clean it thoroughly. Some tops have rubber gaskets on them - which will deteriorate in a dishwasher and cause your bottle to leak.

Can I use my SIGG bottle for fuzzy drinks too?

Yes, of course. All SIGG bottle tops provide a 100% seal and cannot leak.

Can SIGG bottles be used for boiling water?

No. Strong heat can damage the outer coating.

Is the SIGG liner BPA free?

Very thorough migration testing in laboratories around the world is conducted regularly and has consistently shown SIGG bottles to have NO PRESENCE WHATSOEVER of phthalates, Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA), Bysphenol A (BPA), Bysphenol B (BPB) or any other chemicals which scientists have deemed as potentially harmful.
SIGG has proprietary rights with a 3rd party producer of our liner formula. In other words, we do not produce it ourselves. This supplier is based in Switzerland and has an impeccable reputation for quality and safety. SIGG is THE ONLY WATER BOTTLE ON THE MARKET to use this special liner.
As there are many copy-cat manufacturers in the market and because we know that this liner is the very best, our supplier has an agreement with SIGG to keep his formula strictly confidential.
