How do I know my baby is ready for solid food?
Babies will tell you when they are
ready! Signs such as reaching for food out of your hands, staring at
you while you eat and licking their lips are typical of the first
communication your baby will give you. Some babies will start doing
this at 4months, more likely around 6 months and others showing no
interest at all until 10 months or even one year. There is nothing to
worry about as long as your baby looks healthy, is a healthy
weight and seems happy. I know because my babies didn’t start eating
solids until they were one. Our Naturopath advises that the longer you
wait for solid food the better ( unless your baby is hankering for
it!). Their digestive systems are tiny and some babies naturally start
later. Their first meal will likely be no larger than a teaspoon, this
is also normal. If you have any concerns about food and what to give
your baby, email our on-line naturopath. Click Here Bonus Reward Points – Did you sign up at the Sydney Baby Expo?

World Environment Day June 5
World Environment Day, commemorated
each year on 5 June is one of the principal vehicles through which the
United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and
enhances political attention and action. The World Environment Day theme
selected for 2004 is Wanted! Seas and Oceans – Dead or Alive? The
theme asks that we make a choice as to how we want to treat the Earth’s
seas and oceans. It also calls on each and every one of us to act. Do
we want to keep seas and oceans healthy and alive or polluted. If you
want to know more about world environment day and wish to take some
action in your own lives to help our environment, take a look at http://www.unep.org/wed/2004/ or check out what local events are happening in your area all this week.
