Natural Rubber Dummies – also known as Natural Rubber Soother should be boiled in water for 2 minutes (and allowed to cool) before first time use. Afterwards they should be cleaned on a daily basis. Natural Rubber Soothers will slightly change colour during use. As the soother is made from Natural Rubber the texture and colour of the soother will change over time. Once the rubber is sticky to touch it is time to replace the soother as it is starting to breakdown and biodegrade. Why should I get a Natural Rubber Soother and what size is best?
I never thought I would be recommending a “dummy” as these were once known. My tip to have one for every new parents comes from my own experience of very painful breasts in the first few weeks of breastfeeding. When its so sore you are about to cry and your finger just won’t sit in your babies mouth any longer, a soother “saved” us for a few weeks.
